Fertility Counselling Support Service
How to access Counselling:
Institut Marquès Ireland acknowledges the importance of providing support to patients undergoing fertility treatment and provides one counselling support session as part of the treatment process. This is optional for patients, except when patients are considering donor sperm, donor egg or egg freezing treatment, when counselling is a requirement. Further counselling sessions are paid for by the patients. A number of counselling sessions, up to three, are necessary in order to comprehensively cover the topics and areas outlined above.
For many people, it is the most natural thing in the world to want to have a baby and start a family. This is a relatively easy achievement for a lot of people. For others, it can be a more challenging process and some people need to seek medical advice and assistance to achieve what they want.
It is estimated that one in six couples and individuals seek medical advice because of difficulties conceiving. People differ in their ability to deal with the challenges they face in respect of their fertility and as undergo fertility treatment. It is not uncommon to experience feelings such as isolation; insecurity; stress and anxiety; depression; anger; grief and sadness.
We at Institut Marquès Ireland recognize that counselling is a mandatory requirement for patients wishing to use donor sperm and therefore we provide a complimentary counseling session with our Fertility Counsellor to all our patients.
How can Counselling help?
At Institut Marquès Ireland, we consider Counselling to be a key element in the provision of assisted fertility services. We recognise that undertaking treatment is both an exciting and challenging process.
Counselling provides an opportunity for people to explore their feelings, beliefs and thoughts in order for them to have a better understanding of their situation, and it provides practical solutions for coping with the well recognised emotional and physical pressures of fertility treatment.
